10 years ago Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East (LFPME) was established by Sara Apps, Michelle Harris, Phyllis Starkey, Mark McDonald, Richard Burden and Martin Linton, who were all brought together by the formidable Sir Gerald Kaufman to advocate for Palestinian rights in the Labour Party.
LFPME has been very lucky to have benefited from the talents of many members of the Labour Party during the last 10 years and has campaigned on a range of issues, notably securing the Party’s support for the recognition of a Palestinian state.
To celebrate this milestone and recognise the hard work from all our volunteers, we are proud to announce the release of our report that reflects on the past 10 years of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East.
“Since being established ten years ago,Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East has been a powerful voice for peace and justice for Palestine within the UK Parliament and wider society.”
H.E Ambassador Dr Husam S. Zomlot.
The report was released at our Christmas reception in the House of Commons, where Lisa Nandy MP, Grahame Morris MP, Emily Thornberry MP and Mark Mcdonald PPC addressed an audience of our colleagues and supporters. Read more about our parliamentary reception here.
We are a voluntary organisation and although we have had unwaivering support from volunteers and many members of the Labour Party, our work and reach is limited due to the shortage of funds. By making a regular donation you will be enabling us to expand our scope of work to reach further into the Labour Party and continue to strengthen our advocacy and campaigning work.
