A Palestinian Christmas in Parliament

Grahame Moris speaking at the 2018 LFPME Christmas reception in Parliament.

With the advent of Christmas upon us and 10 years of LFPME, we brought Palestinian Christmas celebrations to Parliament and reflected on the work we still have ahead of us.

As we reflect on the last 10 years, we recognise the new era and challenges ahead of us and were pleased to announce at our reception that Lisa Nandy MP will be taking on the role of chair of LFPME and thanking Grahame Morris MP for his service and dedication to LFPME and the Palestinian cause.

We were joined by a number of speakers including the new Palestinian Ambassador to the UK, Dr Husam Zomlot and Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry MP. HE Dr Husam Zomlot spoke of the challenges in the oPt’s and said the issue of Palestine must not become a “zero sum game”. His comments were a stark reminder of the work that we still have to do, within the Labour Party and the role that the Labour Party must play internationally.

Emily Thornberry MP reflected on the vacuum created in the international arena, who warned that these were “dark times” with President Trump at the helm of the US. You can watch her speech below.
