ABOUT LABOUR FRIENDS OF PALESTINE AND THE MIDDLE EAST
Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East (LFPME) is a parliamentary group within the British Labour Party. We are dedicated to promoting support for Palestine and advocating for peace and justice in the Middle East. Our mission is rooted in the principles of international law and a profound respect for human rights.
We are deeply committed to Labour’s enduring support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination in their historic land. We recognize the struggles faced by Palestinians and advocate for their rights, justice, and equality. We stand with all Palestinians – Muslims, Christians, and others – who seek justice, freedom, and equality as outlined in numerous international resolutions and conventions.
We promote a vision of peace rooted in justice, coexistence, and mutual respect between the Palestinian and Israeli peoples. We support political, economic, and civil society initiatives that advance the cause of peace, justice, and equality. We advocate for peacebuilders in both Palestine and Israel in their efforts to realize these essential objectives.
We call for an end to the occupation, the dismantling of illegal settlements, and the upholding of international law. We oppose all forms of racism, including Islamophobia and anti-Semitism, and any attempts to delegitimize the Palestinian struggle for freedom and rights. We urge greater international recognition of the challenges faced by the Palestinian people and seek increased international solidarity in addressing them.
We support diplomatic efforts to achieve peace between Palestine, Israel, and their regional neighbours. We stand with all those campaigning for democratic values, justice, and human rights across the Middle East.
We are proud of Labour’s history of advocating for Palestinian rights. We view Palestine as a key player in the Middle East peace process. We work to strengthen the ties between Britain and Palestine, recognizing the mutual benefits they bring in terms of cultural exchange, economic cooperation, and shared aspirations for peace.
