Team LFPME will be taking part in Palestine’s second Bethlehem Marathon on the 11th April 2014.
LFPMEs Komal and Helena will be travelling to the West Bank to take part.
Team LFPME will be raising money for LFPME and for the Del Singh Foundation.
The Del Singh Foundation was set up in memory of one of LFPMEs leading lights; a colleague and friend dedicated to fighting for social justice and human rights.
We lost Del in a tragic terror attack in Kabul, Afghanistan on January 17th 2014; through the Del Singh Foundation, friends and family hope to continue his legacy of supporting vulnerable communities in conflict zones.
Del took part in the first Palestine marathon in Gaza in 2011 and then again in 2012, followed by the Bethlehem marathon in 2013. Despite the stubborn resistance (and laziness) of his colleagues Del convinced us to continue taking part in the Palestine marathons, to raise awareness of the Palestinian cause for justice and human rights. This year, we will run in memory of Del and for his beloved Palestine.

50% of the funds raised by Team LFPME will go to LFPME* to host activities in the UK to raise awareness about the situation in Palestine.
50% of the funds raised will go to the Del Singh Foundation. The Foundation is currently at inception phase and Del’s family are in the process of identifying initiatives to support that were close to Del’s heart. All sponsors will be kept updated about the development and projects of the Foundation.
*Please note, LFPME is a volunteer run organisation and all donations and support goes directly towards the costs of events and activities.
The Marathon Route
The marathon in Bethlehem will start and finish by the historical Church of Nativity, in the famous Manger Square.
